Open design manifesto

Open design is a design process which systematically includes all needs of all individuals it directly and indirectly influences.

Needs are collected directly from individuals without any limitations, and not indirectly through interpretation, limited testing, and representation.

Goal of open design is to provide designers with external knowledge and wisdom which they can use to improve their design decisions.

All design processes require openness but in different amounts and with different methods.
